The Gut Cleanse 2.0
If you are reading this, then you should have already completed the original Two-Week Gut Cleanse program. If not, you'll need to complete that program first in order for this program to make sense. Once you complete those first two weeks, come back to this program and keep going! If you have completed the Two-Week Gut Cleanse, I'm sure you are feeling motivated and ready to continue your healing journey. For the next four weeks, you'll explore your signs and symptoms, while accelerating your progress. Let's talk about what to expect during the program.
We will continue to eliminate the inflammatory foods, bring your nutrient deficiencies to sufficiencies and repair the gut from top to bottom. I think this is the perfect time to share that there is no single miracle program. Both the original Two Week Gut Cleanse and the Gut Cleanse 2.0 is designed to pique your curiosity about what your body is trying to tell you. As a Functional Health Practitioner, it’s my job to ask questions, gather data, assess and recommend nutrition and lifestyle strategies. Because this is mostly a self-guided cleanse, it's important to know that what is written in these pages is just the tip of the iceberg. You are taking the first steps to healing the digestive system, which in turn, helps to heal the entire body. I don't want you to think of this cleanse as a one and done scenario. This journey is about exploration and self-discovery. What does your body need? What does your body do well without? Take notes, keep a journal, track and assess on your own. If you need additional support, email me!
Oftentimes, we can go through nutritional and lifestyle changes for a couple weeks and feel great! However, it's very common to need additional cleansing time! In fact, I almost always recommend at least six weeks in a gut restoration program. Depending on how compromised the gut actually is, some may need to spend up to a year or longer in a gut restoration protocol. Damage to the gut has usually occurred over the course of years and even decades! Investing your time and energy into the healing process is the best gift you can give your body. If you suspect that's you, I highly suggest connecting with a healthcare practitioner for support and guidance. A Functional Health Practitioner is trained to see you as a WHOLE person, dive into your health history, track and assess important data, all while making appropriate recommendations for your unique body, symptoms and preferences. The healing process is NOT linear! You will likely pivot many times as you learn more about your body and what it truly needs. A one-size-fits-all approach will never work. Slow down, be curious and keep moving forward with an open heart and mind.
Be sure to read through the entire program! I have added new content for you to explore in every category. Please do not feel that you have to adopt every strategy. You don’t! Enjoy the learning experience and choose new ideas that makes sense for your unique circumstances. Lastly, don’t forget to be patient. It takes a lot of time for your digestive system to slowly degrade and show symptoms. While it typically doesn’t take as much time to heal, it does take patience and persistence. So, stick with it and practice self-compassion and love.
